JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summary: 
Load/unload trailers and move product/raw materials by performing the following duties.
Delivery of ready-mixed concrete to beds within a reasonable time due to the perishability of the concrete. The daily work schedule may consist of other duties in addition to concrete delivery with the truck as truck operation may be only 4-6 hours of a regular shift.

Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Pre-trip inspection of ready-mix truck pursuant to KP regulations. Pre-trip inspection includes: 
Checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes and other driver operated controls for loading and unloading ready-mix, washout systems.
Fills water tank before each delivery by placing rubber hose into water tank and filling after checking that all valves are shut.
Upon receiving concrete order, driver maneuvers the vehicle under the batch plant (depending on plant configuration) and charges mixer to receive concrete, making sure to take any admixtures or other ancillary products that are required. 
Safely drives truck to bed and arrives with the desired slump within customer or job specifications by following QC/Batch plant requirements.
Upon arriving at the casting bed, the driver must be able to safely maneuver truck in often very tight/congested conditions. Safe observations of surrounding, coworkers, equipment and conditions is critical.
Pursuant to plant needs, driver will place chutes from fender or hanging rack onto the main chute at the rear of truck for discharge. Upon completion of discharge, driver will wash the chutes in washout system or other appropriate location as directed by contractor and put back in appropriate location on truck..
Upon completion of each shift, driver will wash truck with hose and brush, including the use of cleaning solution when necessary.
Communicates with batch plant & QC/QA through the use of a two-way radio 
At the end of the shift, all paperwork must be completed and turned in. 
Ready-Mix Driver is responsible to determine/find out schedule each day for start time for pouring.
Each driver is expected to perform a post-trip inspection of truck pursuant to KP regulations.
Operate Powered Industrial Lift Truck to move product and raw materials as needed.
Remove product from building.
Organize yard for product storage as directed.
Work with customers to load product when needed in yard.
Help load truck for final product delivery.
Stage loads for delivery.
Unload non-conforming product for disposal or rework.
Visually inspect product during handling for quality.
Locate product for shipping and load onto trailer per loading paperwork.
Inspect equipment daily to insure safety and proper operations.  Maintain required reports.
Stencil product as needed.
Store finished product in retrievable locations so as to identify for future shipments.
Assist with snow removal when necessary.
Cleans work area and equipment. Performs other routine duties.
Must adhere to all Kerkstra Precast and MiOSHA safety rules.
Must work within the attendance policy guidelines.
 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education or Equivalent:
High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Company issued operators permit
Completion of written and practical company testing
Must safely operate truck and perform tasks that are consistent with company policy 

Special Skills/Abilities Needed:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
