JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summary: 
Drives tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver raw concrete materials to Kerkstra plant in Grandville, MI by performing the following duties.
 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education or Equivalent:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current Driver's license with CDL- A Endorsement. Must also have tanker and doubles endorsement.

Special Skills/Abilities Needed:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must have the ability to back up a tractor-trailer. Must have an exceptional driving record.
 
Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Driver is responsible for picking up & delivering raw materials, (sand, stone, cement), on a daily basis, and in a timely manner, in order for the plant to have sufficient inventory to produce concrete as needed.
Manage the inventory of all aggregates and work with suppliers to make sure inventory is always full by setting up and managing loads with all outsourced suppliers.
Obtain loader certification and serve as back up loader operator as needed/requested.
Keep entire unloading area clean and respectable at all times.
Be available for overtime and/or Saturday work if required.
Kerkstra Precast employees are expected to drive the company vehicle in a safe, defensive, and courteous manner.  Obey all road signs, traffic laws, signals and speed limits.  
Communicate with suppliers and other department peers.
Loads or assists with loading and unloading truck in a timely manner.  Delivers load per delivery instructions.
Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.  
Turn in all completed paperwork daily.
Maintains driver log according to I.C. and/or KP regulations, if required.
Follow all Kerkstra Precast Safety Accountability Rules.
Maintain a clean and organized truck. 
Must adhere to all Kerkstra Precast and MiOSHA safety rules.
Must work within the attendance policy guidelines.
